News reaching our desk is that Amazulu have been added to the list of clubs monitoring Stellenbosch FC midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa, with a view of possibly making an offer at the end of the season.
“Interest is growing in Stellenbosch FC midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and it’s not surprising because he has been doing well, AmaZulu have become the latest club to show interest in the player. You can expect to see clubs making their respective offers for the player at the end of the season”, said a source.
Usuthu are understood to be in search of a replacement for Makhehleni Makhaula who left the club for Orlando Pirates. Makhaula left the Kwazulu Natal based outfit during the January transfer window.
Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are also understood to be keen on the 28-year-old defensive midfielder.
Mthethwa has been outstanding in the Stellies midfield and he has produced a handful of man of the match performances since joining the Steve Barker-coached side, which saw him being named in Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana preliminary squad.
Bafana Bafana will face Liberia in the back to back AFCON qualifiers on the 28th of March 2023.
Stellebosch lost some key players at the end of the last campaign, including Ashley Du Preez, Sibusiso Mthethwa and Zitha Kwinika. It remains to be seen if Mthethwa will be the latest player to be sold at the end of the current season.
The Ox, as Mthethwa is known in the football fraternity, is contracted to Stellenbosch until June 30 2024, having signed a two-and-a-half-year contract when he joined from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards in January last year, according to the information made available to our desk.
