As it is common practice when the season closes, clubs often review the players performances or generally their contributions towards the past season.
Two strikers Augustine Kwem and Gabadinho Mhango are rumoured to face the chop. Since joining from TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates the duo has been blowing hot and cold or rather have been below par and sometimes not available.
The club is looking at cutting costs as well and the pair didn’t come cheap with both on high packages.
Augustine Kwem is only 25 years old, with room to improve based on his age and has racked up 15 appearances for Usuthu of which he has started 58 percent of those games. Contributing two goals and one assist in all competitions. His best spell was while he was at Chippa United, where he managed to score 13 goals, four assists in 60 games.
Gabadinho Mhango on the other hand joined AmaZulu in July 2022 and is coming back from an injury that has hampered his time at the Durban-based club. He has done well to score five goals in all competitions, having registered 15 appearances in total.
“Absolutely not to my knowledge, no he has just come back from an injury, but they just signed him so…,” Mhango’s agent Mike Makaab told ThisIsFootball.Africa, when asked about the rumoured release of Gabadinho come the end of the season.
“It would come as a big surprise; he is not on a short term contract and it definitely does not end at the end of the season.”
