Bafana Bafana failed to grab the fourth win in a row after their match with Angola ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Zakhele Lepasa found his scoring boots as he netted a penalty for South Africa, while Ambrosini Salvador netted for Angola.

Hugo Broos made four changes from the last game’s line up with Grant Kekana, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Miguel Timm, and Monnapule Saleng making way for Siyanda Xulu, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Luke Le Roux, and Fagrie Lakay.

As opposed to their last outing against Mozambique last Thursday, Bafana Bafana kicked off the match at full throttle, but unfortunately failed to make use of the goal-scoring opportunities they created.

In the 19th minute, South Africa were caught napping from a corner-kick as Palancas Negras found the back of the net courtesy of Salvador’s header.

After seven minutes, Bafana were awarded a penalty, after Angola’s goal-scorer Salvador was adjudged to have kicked Kgaogelo Sekgota in the box.

Zakhele Lepasa stood up and converted from the spot to equalise for Broos’ men. Thereafter, the home side looked dangerous when they had the ball, searching for the lead, but couldn’t unlock the opposition’s defense.

The match went to halftime with 1-1 on the scoreboard.

In the early stages of the second half, the game was evenly balanced, but neither team looked dangerous in the final third.

Broos made multiple substitutions including taking off Themba Zwane for Miguel Timm. With the playmaker ‘Mshishi’ no longer on the pitch, the team found it somewhat difficult to play from the back and link with the forwards.

In the 68th minute, Deivi Viera unleashed a through pass to Pedro Miguel whose shot was saved by the captain Ronwen Williams.

Towards the end of the match ,substitute Bongokuhle  Hlongwane’s presence was felt by Angola, as his aggressive presence made a difference. Throughout the second half, Broos’ troops tried to find the winning goal, but Angola remained firm until the referee blew the final whistle.
