Baroka Show Kobola the Exit Door

The Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka have shown their head coach Vincent Kobola the exit door after a poor start to the 2022/23 season. Baroka struggled to find consistent results under the guidance of Kobola which prompted the club hierarchy to pull the trigger on the retired footballer.

Kobola was at the helm in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season when Baroka go relegated to the National First Division. The Limpopo-based side confirmed the axing of Kobola in an official statement on Thursday.

“Baroka FC can confirm that we have parted ways with head coach Vincent Kobola by mutual agreement. We would like to thank Vincent Kobola for everything he did for the club and wish him all the best in the future, he will forever remain Moroka,”

Bushy Moloi will take over the coaching reigns at Bakgakga as the team looks for a positive reaction with the obvious aim for automatic promotion to the topflight. Baroka who won their maiden domestic silverware in 2018 after beating Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout final on penalties have also announced they have parted ways with some of their senior players. Amongst the players who had their contracts terminated was former Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane, Decide Chauke, Jerry Msane and Nkosinathi Ononogbu.

In the current campaign, the Kurushi Mphahlele-owned club have won three games, drawing two while losing on six occasions They are positioned 13th on the Championship league table after 11 games played thus far.
