Man United forward coach and ex-Bafana Bafana star Benni McCarthy

Manchester United striker coach Benni McCarthy was praised by legendary United left back, Patrice Evra for the improvement of striker Marcus Rashford and the team’s striking department as whole.

The legendary South African striker and coach joined the Old Trafford side in July last year after the arrival of Dutch head coach, Erik ten Hag. McCarthy was mandated to improve the striking department at the club.

As a result, United have been scoring goals lately, and the forward who has been scoring nonstop is England’s Marcus Rashford, who has scored 16 goals in 26 matches in all competitions this season.

Evra, the former left back heaped praise on the UEFA Pro License coaching badge holder, as he believes McCarthy has made a massive impact on Manchester’s strikers.

“We need to give credit to Benni McCarthy, he’s responsible for all the forward players, and you can see he is doing a good job,” Evra said as quoted by Betfair.

“Maybe he is the one saying to Marcus that he needs to score more goals and to be a killer in front of goal.

“ I think what United are doing with Marcus Rashford is good work because I see someone who is happy when I look at Marcus. That is the key. It’s the biggest difference I see in Marcus Rashford, now he is smiling.

“Before, when he scored a goal, you could see he was angry and upset with something, now he is happy.”

Benni is Bafana’s top goalscorer of all time with 31 goals in 80 international appearances. what can be described as a glittering career as a footballer, the former Orlando Pirates won UEFA Champions League WITH FC Porto in 2005.

Benni had a glittering career overseas, playing for Ajax Amsterdam, Celta de Vigo, Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United before ending his career at Orlando Pirates in the PSL. The highlight of his career was no doubt winning the UEFA Champions league with Porto under Jose Mourinho in 2005.
