New Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has begun to sharpen his axe at the KZN capital by terminating left-back defender Tshidiso Monamodi’s contract, 4 months after he joined the club from Royal AM.
Monamodi joined Maritzburg United with great expectations from Royal AM, but managed just 5 appearances in the 2022/23 season, while getting 3 starts. At Royal AM last season, he managed to get 13 appearances, accompanied by 11 starts, scoring just one goal.
He has been a third-choice player in the left back position for Maritzburg United, as Keegan Ritchie and Bongani Sam were mostly preferred by previous coach John Maduka.
Monamodi joins midfielder Zukile Kewuti in the list of departures at Maritzburg United, who was the first to be terminated at the Team of Choice.
Sources at the Team of Choice have confirmed that more exits should be expected, and will be announced at the KZN capital, possibly before the end of the FIFA break.
Maritzburg United are currently sitting 16th in the DSTV Premiership after 13 rounds of fixtures. They have managed to secure 2 wins, 5 draws and 6 losses thus far. They entered the FIFA break having gone 6 games [4 losses and 2 draws] without a win.
