Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos, has explained the omission of Mamelodi Sundowns star Khuliso Mudau from the squad. Broos’ troops will face Mozambique and Angola in friendly matches, set to take place on the 17th and 20th of November at Mbombela Stadium.
Mudau has seen a dip of form with Sundowns since the start of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, and he has fallen down the pecking order, with Thapelo Morena taking up the right-wing back position.
With the former Black Leopards winger seeing limited game time recently, Broos has attributed his absence in the squad to the dip in form, and stiff competition in the right back position.
“Mudau has been struggling a little bit in my opinion, and then you have Thapelo Morena, Nyiko Mobbie and Thabiso Monyane who are all good right backs,” Broos told the media.
“We had to choose and the reason Khuliso is not there is the fact that he’s a bit low on form, his performance has been less than before,”
The Belgian mentor further justified the selection of Sekhukhune United’s Mobbie despite the club not doing well and languishing at the bottom of the league table.
“Mobbie has never disappointed me except for when we played against France, and that was not only his fault, it was always difficult to mark Kylian Mbappe and that was a very difficult game for Mobbie”, Broos added.
