Pretoria Callies team manager Nemulodi Ndinae, has rebutted rumours that the club’s head coach Kwanele Kopo has been fired.
There was a media report on Sunday that emerged from Soccer Laduma, claiming that Kopo was shown the door by the club’s management after a poor run of results lately.
The Romans last won a match at the beginning of last month, beating newcomers NB La Masia 2-1 at home, before they went on to lose four games, with one draw in the past five matches.
This season’s relegation battle is already shaping up into an intriguing scrap, and is looking set to last until the end of the season. Currently the Romans lie at the bottom of the table, with only five points accumulated from ten games.
However, speaking to this publication after their 1- 0 defeat to Venda Football Academy on Tuesday, Nemulodi has confidently dismissed the claims, insisting that Kopo is still in charge despite the poor results.
“That’s not true, I saw it, there is nothing to worry about,” Nemulodi told This Is Football.Africa.
“Everything is still as it is, the coach is fine. The coach is the one who has been training the team. He traveled with the team to face VFA.
“We are not panicking, we will turn the corner because even today we were robbed, but it’s a nature of football, so our coach is very safe.”
The former South Africa U-23 team assistant coach has two games to turn things around before the World Cup tournament begins. Callies welcome All Stars this coming Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium, before traveling to Venda to face Tshamaku Tsha Madivhandila next week Saturday. Time will tell Kopo’s fate.
