Chelsea Star: Aubameyang was Shocked by Tuchel Sacking

New Chelsea Striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea star Kepa Arrizabalaga has made it known that new Blues’ striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was shocked at Thomas Tuchel’s sacking.

A large part of why Aubameyang joined Chelsea was his relationship with Tuchel. The striker signed from Barcelona on deadline day in a deal that saw Chelsea pay €14million and Marcos Alonso go the other way.

However, their reunion lasted all of 59 minutes of football action as Tuchel was sacked after a defeat against Zagreb in the Champions League.

This led many to wonder whether Aubameyang still has a future at Chelsea, given the striker is 33-years-old and is evidently on the decline.

Talking to The Sun, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga revealed: “The truth is that the first days he arrived a little scared.

“He was a little in shock, a lot of change, the last two or three days were very crazy for him, everything that happened to him was a misfortune.”

Aubameyang opened up on his time at Chelsea thus far, speaking after their draw with RB Salzburg earlier this week: “Everyone knows the relationship that I had with Thomas.

“It’s always sad when someone leaves the club. Obviously, I just saw him for a few days.

“When you play football you have to adapt very quickly to some moments in the season, this can happen.

“I will try to talk to him as soon as possible. It’s been a crazy week for all of us, that’s part of life, we have to adapt.”

Chelsea’s match against Liverpool, initially scheduled for Sunday, is one of the fixtures that have been affected by the Queen’s passing and will subsequently be rescheduled. Graham Potter will have to wait until October 1st to try and get his first win as Chelsea manager, with a daunting trip to Crystal Palace awaiting.
