A Kaizer Chiefs defender who has seen no game time, is rumoured to possibly move on and receive a settlement, so that he can find a new club.
The player in question is Austin Thabani Dube, whose dream of playing for a big club was fulfilled, a feat that had him all smiles when Amakhosi came knocking.
He joined the Glamour boys from Richards Bay on a three-year contract with a further two year option. In the same period he lifted the COSAFA Cup with Bafana Bafana at the age of 28.
But his failure to break into the match day squad has left him at a crossroads. Initially he had a solid run when he first joined but without regular game time and Arthur Zwane having more faith in new signings like Edmilson Dove, his days were numbered.
The club generally are also trying to bring in and keep players that are below 30 years of age, so this is something that does not help his case. He now faces the exit door, and the club might take the option of agreeing to a settlement and potentially part ways. It is not known where the former Richards Bay players’ next destination will be after it was reported that he declined a return to the Natal Rich Boys.
With SuperSport United struggling with central defenders due to injuries, even opting to play a forward in Thamsanqa Gabuza in this position, maybe Matsatsantsa will be the ideal place for him should he become a free agent. Dube has a contract with Amakhosi until the 30th of June 2024. Which means he would then have to be released, so that he would be able sign with any club that shows an interest in him.
