According to source close to Golden Arrows Pule Mmodi and Arrows are currently still locked in negotiations for a new deal, with the source since revealing that the midfielder turned down the club latest offers.
Mmodi was one of the most talked about subjects in the January 2023 transfer window with Kaizer Chiefs poised as his next destination.
While the Kwazulu Natal outfit has been unsuccessful in previous attempts to extend the player deal, indications are that the club has not given up on potentially securing the player future.
“The player hasn’t signed anywhere despite Kaizer Chiefs pre-contract reports and Golden Arrows are still hopeful of retaining him” said the source.
Mmodi’s current deal with Abafana Besthende will come to an end on June 30 this year and while the club has since wrapped up several other contract extensions, the 30-year old is yet to sign on the dotted line
The attacking midfielder has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates among other PSL clubs, with the Bafana Bafana international expected to be one of the names to headline during the July/August transfer window.
The attack minded player joined Lamontville Golden Arrows FC at the beginning of the 2020/2021 from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Uthongathi has managed 21 appearances, scoring five goals this season.
The winger did not start the 2022/23 campaign very well as he was still coming to terms that his dream move to Chiefs collapsed after month’s of discussion, with both teams not reaching an agreement.
He was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that played two international friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana in September.
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have been strongly linked with the Theunissen born player and have been joined in their interest by Golden Arrows provincial neighbours Amazulu.
