Kaizer Chiefs have received a massive boost ahead of their DStv Premiership match against Royal AM on Sunday afternoon at Peter Mokaba stadium.
The Democratic Republic of Congo-born striker Christian Saile Basomboli has been granted his work permit. The Soweto giants announced the signing of Basomboli from Nchanga Rangers of Zambia a week ago where he scored 19 goals for his former club last season.
The Glamour Boys have been in a losing streak of three matches this year without scoring a single goal. It remains to be seen whether the Basomboli signing could be a solution for the Soweto giants upfront. Zwane describes Basomboli as a scoring machine who can fit into their style of play.
“He is a scoring machine, he has been scoring goals for his previous clubs and we just want him to continue where he left off,” Zwane said. “And yes, I think he is going to [play] in our way of play.”
“When we brought him here to have a closer look at him, in terms of assessing it was very key for us to look at how he is going to adapt.”
Chiefs have been using Caleb Bimenyimana and Wandile Duba upfront as the centre forwards recently. However, it’ll be up to Zwane to use Basomboli tomorrow.
Amakhosi are currently sitting in sixth position on league standings with a hope to play CAF football next season. The DStv Premiership action between the Glamour Boys and Royal AM starts at 17:30.
