Here is the story: Embattled Kaizer Chiefs will take on Orlando Pirates at FNB stadium on Saturday, the kickoff is at 15:30.
Amakhosi go into the weekend encounter as underdogs after their disappointing 3-2 loss to Arrows in the past weekend.
They will be looking to redeem themselves to their supporters, who were clearly not impressed with the team, especially their coach, Arthur Zwane.
A section of the Amakhosi faithful were heard chanting ‘Zwane must go!’ after the game, a clear sign of their unhappiness with the mentor.
They will be facing an Orlando Pirates side that is on an upward trajectory in terms of their performances on the field.
Amabhakaniya go into this weekend’s Soweto derby with their tails high after a hard fought victory over a stubborn Maritzburg United.
They will be looking for all the three points in their hunt for the second spot on the log.
But the fact of the matter is: While Orlando Pirates will take the field as clear favorites based on current form and latest results, Amakhosi have been dominant when it comes to the Soweto derby lately, no matter what form they have been in.
In their last five previous meetings, Chiefs have won four, with Amabhakaniya winning one.
If we take it further back, adding more games, Chiefs have won eight of the encounters, Pirates winning six, and seven drawn in twenty-one matches.
The head-to-head numbers should be encouraging for Amakhosi, and give them some much needed confidence boost for the weekend showdown.
But what should be even more encouraging is the fact that the Soweto derby often has a life of its own.
It totally disregards current form and has a tendency of defying the odds. So, whatever happened in the past few games for will not form part of the equation on Saturday, especially from Amakhosi’s point of view.

In a nutshell: A lot of soccer fans’s money will be on Orlando Pirates in the weekend. But Amakhosi have a lot to fight for come Saturday, their backs are against the wall, and the only way they can go is forward, which means nothing but a win will be acceptable from them in the Soweto Derby.
