Chippa United have axed Morgan Mammila as head coach with Kurt Lentjies taking over as interim coach until the end of 2022/23.
As we first reported a few weeks ago, there could be technical changes given the nature in which the Owner Chippa Mpengesi manages his club as well as the downward trajectory of the current form of the team. Now this is exactly what has happened.
Reportedly Mammila will move into an administrative role at the club. He has only managed to pick up one victory in the last 10 league games.
The 2-1 loss to Swallows was their second defeat under Morgan Mammila and he gave an indication that if the form continued against Usuthu that he would step down.
“In football you also need luck to win and I think today they (Swallows) were lucky to win this match,” Morgan Mammila told SuperSport after the game against Swallows FC.
Chairman Chippa Mpengesi took the decision to end his tenure immediately instead of waiting till the next game as predicted by Mammila. Mpengesi quickly reinstated Lentjies as the interim coach who previously took over from Gavin Hunt and steered the club away from relegation.
