AmaZulu captain Makhehleni Makhaula has completed a deadline day move to Orlando Pirates. As we previously reported, the Usuthu captain was supposed to join the Buccaneers at the end of the season when his contract expires. But Pirates managed to get him in early without any real struggle.
AmaZulu President Sandile Zungu on Makhehleni Makhaula exit:
“Makhaula leaves with our blessings. He has served the club very well as captain and was the recipient of the President’s and the player’s player of the year awards two seasons ago with merit.”
But what does this mean for Midfielders like Ben Motshwari and Goodman Mosele who are on the fringes of the pecking order.
Someone like the 31-year-old Motshwari, has won a league title under Gavin Hunt at Bidvest Wits, but has only made 11 appearances in the league so far.
Mosele on the other hand, is only 23 years old with loads of potential, has played one game less after signing from Baroka.
Then we have Miguel Timm who joined in the last window together with Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Thabang Monare who has regained his form just before the closing of the window, and lastly the former Maritzburg United magician, another forgotten man, Fortune Makaringe who has played eight games this season with one assist.
With plenty of time on Deadline day anything can happen.
