Former Kaizer Chiefs trialist, Amancio Neymar Canhembe has penned himself a contract in the Mocambola league, and will now be hoping to try and hit the ground running.

The 25-year- old was on trial at Naturena last year as he looked to try and secure himself a deal with the Glamour Boys, however a move didn’t materialize and he began looking elsewhere.

Now it has been confirmed to this publication that the attacking midfielder has penned a deal for the remainder of the 2022/23 season with Mozambican club Uniao Desportiva de Songo on a short term deal with a one year option should he manage to impress.

Before he returns home, Canhembe tried his luck at Sekhukhune where he spent weeks training but Babina Noko didn’t offer him a deal.

Neymar was at Chiefs in December 2022 along with Stanley Ratifo, Maurizio Macorig and Christian Saile Basomboli. Only Saile has been signed with Ratifo and Macorig returning to their German lower division club.

The Mozambican came through the ranks of Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon but didn’t break through into the senior team and following a stint with Liga Desportivo de Maputo he then returned to Portugal for a stint with lower division club Sertanense.

He then returned to LD Maputo before playing for the reserve team’s of Vitoria Setubal and Maritimo.

Canhembe has already won caps with the Mozambique senior national team in both World Cup qualifiers and AFCON.
