Ex Pirates star Solomon Mathe has confirmed that he has joined Pipi Zothwane’s coaching team at Uthongathi.
The former Orlando Pirates midfielder started his coaching career at the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe Foundation side Dabeka Sporting as an assistant coach in November 2019 and left the club in September 2021. Mathe who won the 2013 MTN8 and Telkom Knockout with the now defunct Platinum Stars was formally with Northwest University as a head coach until January this year.
Mathe brings a wealth of experience to Uthongathi after a fine playing career. He played for Orlando Pirates, Silver Stars before enjoying spells at Bloemfontein Celtics, Thanda Royal Zulu and later returned to Platinum Stars.
“I’m at Uthongathi, I started last week Monday and so far, things have been good under coach Zothwane,” Mathe told Thisisfootball.Africa.
The Durban-based club currently sit seventh on the table, after winning four games, drawn five and lost only two matches this season so far. Mathe hopes to bring his top level experience from his stints at Pirates, Stars, Celtic and Thanda to good value at his new club.
