Former Orlando Pirates striker’s coach Scott Chickelday has heaped praise on the striker, Terrance Dzvukamanja after he was impressed with his rapid improvement.
With Dzvukamanja being the man grabbing the headlines. Behind the scenes, Chickelday was key to his success after having helped the Zimbawean to regain his confidence.
Before the season started, Dzvukamanja was a shadow of his former self, with confidence and form deserting him. Now he has emerged as Pirates’ most potent striker, with his goals keeping his side in the Premiership title hunt.
While praising all the players he worked with at the Buccaneers, Chickelday said that Dzvukamanja has improved tremendously in the past few games.
“I love Dzvukamanja, I think he’s a wonderful player. I think he’s probably one of the best headers of the ball in the league. When you see him training, how he heads the ball, it’s phenomenal. He works tirelessly hard,” Chickelday told SA FM.
“There were talks of him being shipped out of the team, but I know Jose Riveiro is a big fan of Dzvuka. Some players need confidence because sometimes when you are not playing you make bad decisions.
“I’m glad he’s scoring goals now, because he’s a good player. He just required confidence. And I hope he will keep scoring to help the team to get a Champions League spot.”
The Zimbabwean international has scored two goals and registered one assist in seven games so far across all competitions.
