A former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder is clubless following his release from Swallows who have embarked on a mass exodus.
Given Thibedi has left the Dube Birds by mutual consent after the technical team felt he no longer had a place in the team according to a source close to the club.
Swallows head coach Ernst Midderndorp wants to work with a squad of players that can give him the desired results as he aims to help Swallows avoid relegation this season. The arrival of Midderndorp hasn’t only effected Thibedi but few other players who made little to no contribution over the past few months. The skilful player was a notable absentee from Midderndorp line-ups before he eventually parted ways with the club.
Thibedi joined Maswaiswai permanently at the beginning of 2021 /2022 season from Kaizer Chiefs after an impressive loan deal en route to winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship and upon their return to the top flight. He has battled with injuries recently, and when he has been available it’s not been easy to make the match day squad.
The Mpumalanga born player last played for the Dube Birds in December 2021 against Orlando Pirates for only seven minutes of that Dstv Premiership clash at the time Dylan Kerr was still head of the Soweto based outfit.
Maswaiswai are 14th on the Dstv Premiership log standings following their 2-0 loss against Cape Town City on Sunday at the Cape Town stadium.
