Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lucky Baloyi who left Maritzburg United in December 2022 has found a new home at Polokwane City.
Baloyi left The team of Choice by mutual consent after being deemed surplus to requirement by the new technical team led by Fadlu Davids.
Sheriff as Baloyi is affectionally known in football fraternity has been among the seven players released by Maritzburg United following the return of Davids as head coach.
The Kwazulu Natal based side has similarly offloaded Given Mashikinya, Isaac Masia, Lelethu Skelem, Tshidiso Monamodi, Zukile Kewuti and Thato Lesenyeho.
Given Mashikinya has since joined Sekhukhune United. The Limpopo born defensive midfielder didn’t play a single game from start to finish this season. He leaves Maritzburg United having managed just 13 appearances.
He was initially on the verge of a move to Dstv Premiership side Marumo Gallants but nothing materialized. Baloyi is one of the two players the club has brought in to bolster their squad in the mid season transfer window.
They also signed former Black Leopards and Swallows winger Joseph Mhlongo. The 31-year old Baloyi previously played for different professional clubs such as Moroka Swallows, Bloemfontein Celtics and Royal AM in his professional football career.
