SuperSport United development product midfielder Sidney Mtshweni has resurfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship club for training.
This publication has it in good authority that the 25-year-old is undergoing trials at the Tshwane outfit and is being closely assessed by coach Kwanele Kopo.
Mtshweni has spent almost a decade with Matsatsantsa. He started in their youth development in 2010, before being promoted to the reserve team and later joined the senior team in the 2015/2016 season.
However, his stay with SuperSport senior side was short-lived as he spent only two years before he joined second division Maccabi FC in 2018. The attacking midfielder was part of the contingent of players who moved with the team when Swallows FC bought Maccabi’s status before the 2019/2020 season commenced.
After only playing one season with the Dube Birds, Mtshweni joined Mamelodi All Stars FC in the ABC Motsepe Foundation. Now with Callies currently gearing towards the season’s resumption, Mtshweni, with his experience, is looking to revive his career at the club.
After a two-week break, the Romans hit the training field under Kopo, who was under pressure before the FIFA World Cup break after his team struggled through a winless spell.
Thisisfootball.Africa sources close to the coach have indicated that the former SuperSport United assistant coach will be releasing a few players as he is trying to mix his team with young players, and experienced players with Mtshweni being one of the players to bring experience to the squad.
Callies will have to fight hard to avoid being relegated. They’re currently on the bottom of the MFC table with only two wins , two draws and eight losses.
