Former Kaizer Chiefs winger, George Lebese believes that the difficulties that Kgaogelo Sekgota is facing at Naturena is the reason why his form is nowhere near what that of his former Swallows teammate Monnapule Saleng is achieving at Orlando Pirates.
ThisIsFootball.Africa spoke to Lebese in an exclusive interview where he compared the two wingers and why they have shown different personal trajectories since returning to Chiefs and Pirates respectively.
“I think also the most important thing is who are you surrounded with in terms of the players you are playing with, and as well as the team’s form. Both of which counts a lot,” Lebese told ThisIsFootball.Africa.
“For Sekgota it has been difficult, because Kaizer Chiefs are having a difficult spell with their inconsistency of results as compared to Saleng at Pirates. It really makes it difficult for him to fit in the Chiefs team because they keep changing and trying new formations to make the team successful.
Saleng has scored 12 goals in all competitions while Sekgota is yet to score a goal in 24 appearances this season. Lebese believes this to be down to the environment.
“I think Orlando Pirates have had more consistent good results than Chiefs. With Chiefs it has been up and down and up and down,” continued George.
“Only now they have had a run of two wins in a row and hopefully it continues, but he (Sekgota) has not been part of that run. However, they do look to him to come off the bench when things are hard and to make an impact. He should make use of those opportunities to get back into the regular team and the system. “
