Former Kaizer Chiefs playmaker, George Maluleka feels very confident in himself after he has reinvented himself in the colors of Amazulu FC. Maluleka has played a pivotal role in strengthening the depth of Amazulu and helping them claim a top 8 position on the table in the Dstv Premiership.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player admits that he needed to put in the shift to get back to his best self. He confesses has done a lot behind the scenes to make sure that he stays injury free, as there was a feeling in the game, that he had become injury prone, as he spent the most part of his career at Mamelodi Sundowns on the treatment table.
“I worked a lot, I worked very hard. I am a player that pushes myself. Obviously, I wasn’t playing, and I was okay I need to push myself even further, and with that happening, I ended up losing weight and becoming strong and fit.
“I was injury prone, and I am not anymore. I have played all 15 games for Amazulu and when last have I done that, I think in the last 2-3 years? The last time I did that was when I was at Chiefs. In the past if I did that, I would get injured but now I have managed to play 15 games, so I have been taking good care of my body,” he said addressing the media.
Maluleka has formed an excellent partnership with captain fantastic, Mkhehlene Makhaula in the middle of the park this season. Despite, his disappointing experience in the colours of the reigning league champions, he has now managed to get his groove back at Amazulu .
Maluleka’s experience will go a long way in helping Amazulu climb up the log standings. Amazulu has currently attained 17 points and are trailing Chippa United by only a point and Orlando Pirates by only two points. Amazulu will play Sekhukhune in their upcoming game and Maluleka will aim to continue where he left off.
