Former Ghana star Michael Osei has backed the Black Stars to proceed to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup when they lock horns against Uruguay today.

The Black Stars occupy second place in group H with three points. They now need a win against Uruguay or a draw to proceed, should Portugal beat South Korea or draw, as both Korea and Uruguay have one point each.

Despite the head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars admitting that the world’s biggest tournament is difficult, he has no doubt Ghana will qualify for the quarterfinals.

“I would say the whole tournament is very difficult because this is the highest-level football  tournament in the world, but we have a chance to win today,” Osei told ThisIsFootball.Africa.

“Playing against any opponent is very, very tough because every opponent is forceful. As I said,  in our first game we couldn’t collect points. But we came strong in the second game to claim a victory.

“The last game gave us a big advantage and motivated us to believe that we can win this one. We must keep focused. We must go the extra mile because it won’t be an easy game.

“This will be a difficult match. The boys need to be tactically disciplined. They must be very conscious and be determined. We must make sure we keep a clean sheet, so that we can qualify.”
