Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has said his players were all exceptiona,l after the team secured a come from behind 2-1 win over Mozambique at the Mbombela Stadium on Thursday evening.
It looked like it was going to be a bad day at the office for Broos, after Mozambique opened the scoring 20 minutes into the match, however, Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s brace was enough to give South Africa a victory on the day.
The Belgian tactician has praised his troops and said he was “satisfied” by the team’s performance in their friendly match.
“I have to say that I’m very satisfied and very proud of our team. We had, I think ten chances, we played good football,” Hugo Broos told SABC Sport after the game.
“The opponent had one chance and we gave the other one, so in the beginning, two times mistakes from our side. But the way they took the game in the hands, we dominated the opponent today and I’m very, very pleased.”
Broos has also revealed what he told his players at half time after their second stunning performance.
“I just asked the boys to go on, we didn’t play bad certainly. But we played against an opponent who was very, very close to their goal and then they waited and then with a very quick counters they tried to be dangerous,” he explained.
“But we controlled it, I find we controlled it very good. So, I said to them, just go on, go on and play, let the ball go, don’t run too much with the ball and you will see you can win this game. I told them that we could win this game, and we did.”
