SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has admitted that Matsatsantsa don’t have a chance of catching Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership title race, despite having a great run this season.
Hunt watched his side beat Maritzburg United 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday night, with goals from defender Kegan Johannes and striker Bradly Grobler, whose goal saw him reaching his 100th PSL goal.
That win-meant Hunt’s side are 19 points clear behind the log leaders, Sundowns in the Dstv Premiership table. With nine games to go, the ex-Chiefs coach says it’s impossible to catch the Tshwane giants.
“Aaa no it’s over, it’s long gone. I mean, they have too good a squad, let’s give credit to them. They are a great team,” Hunt told Thisisfootball.Africa after the match.
“They have raised the bar. We have to give them (Sundowns) credit. They are a good team.
“Right now, I think it’s going to take years. They are a tremendous team. Let’s give credit to them. And I wish them the best of luck in the Champions League.”
SuperSport have won ten, drawn six and lost five games this season under the guidance of Hunt. They beat Sundowns in the first match, before they lost the returning leg and the MTN8 quarterfinal clash.
