Jabu Maluleke Back At SuperSport

SuperSport United hand Jabu Maluleke a new position

SuperSport United initially brought back midfielder Jabu Maluleke to be their set-piece coach but now he will become the clubs under 19 coach.

“I just brought in Jabu Maluleke to be set piece trainer,” said SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews when he spoke about Maluleke’s return to the club in November 2022.

“He has been with us for two months, himself and Daine Klate were two best set piece takers in our club that I have ever seen in my 23 years.

“For me when we were looking for the set piece trainer, I chatted with Gavin(Hunt) and he was kind of like Jabu and we brought him back to the club as a set piece trainer.”

Maluleke has been with the club for about five months after leaving Venda Football Academy at the end of the last season.

The 40-year-old, who is seen as one of the best free kick takers of his generation, was part of the SuperSport squad that won the league title under Gavin Hunt in the 2009/10 season, featuring in 28 matches and scoring four goals. He was also at the club when the Tshwane giants won the Nedbank Cup in the 2011/12 season.

Maluleke also played for Black Leopards and Polokwane City while in the PSL and confirmed he rejoined Matsatsantsa as under 19 coach. He is humbled by the positive gesture by the club to give him the responsibility of a leadership position.
