African team, Morocco can still go on and win this year’s FIFA World Cup due to the winning mentality the coach Walid Regragui has fostered in the players. This is according to former Zimbabwe national team midfielder Willard Katsande. The former Chiefs midfielder backs Morrocco to win desoite the vfact that he is supporting Ronaldo’sPortugal.
The Atlas Lions, who topped their group in the group stages process, have secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win in shootouts over Spain last week.
The Moroccans have become the darlings of the World Cup. And this is Morocco’s first time to qualify for the quarterfinals in the world elite tournament.
Despite Katsande supporting Cristiano Ronaldo’s side, he has told ThisIsFootball.Africa that he thinks Hakim Ziyech’s side have what it takes to go all the way in this year’s tournament, and he cannot see past them.
“I support Portugal since Brazil is out, but if you look at how Morocco play and plan their games, you can tell they can even go to the final,” the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder told Thisisfootball.Africa.
“I have closely watched them, and I’m a fan of their style of play because they know why they are participating. They are going to play Portugal and I hope they planned very well.
“This Morocco team knows how to plan for the big teams. They don’t go toe to toe with them because they know there is no way they are going to compete in terms of that.
“If they pass this stage of quarterfinals, believe me they are going all the way to the final. Morocco can surprise Portugal and win the game.”
The highly anticipated clash between Morocco and Portugal will take place at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, Qatar at 17h00 today.
