Gone too soon.
One of the most promising young players in South African football, Oshwin Andries, has sadly passed on.
“It is with deep sadness that Stellenbosch FC has learned of the untimely passing of promising young defender, Oshwin Andries. The Club is not in a position to provide further information at this stage and asks that his family’s privacy is respected in this difficult time of bereavement
“Andries was a gifted young footballer who graduated from the SFC Academy to make his professional debut at the age of 18. He later became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the DStv Premiership and captained South Africa at the recent U20 AFCON COSAFA qualifiers
“His presence, both on the pitch and off it, will be sorely missed. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Stellenbosch FC are with his family, friends and loved ones.
A further statement will follow in due course.” read the club’s statement.
With Stellies launching a strong campaign to move away from the relegation zone, one hopes the sudden passing of one of their own will not derail their efforts.
Rest in peace Oshwin, the South African football community had so much hopes in you, but it wasn’t to be, death be not proud.
Downs dominated, but not defeated.
Mamelodi Sundowns continued with their winning streak, stretching it to fifteen wins in a row.
Cassius Mailula scored the only goal of the match as early as the 6th minute, after Orlando Pirates played themselves into a Mamelodi Sundowns pressing trap.
Despite dominating the game, Pirates old ghost of not scoring goals came back to haunt them, as their surge for second a second spot finish took a knock.

Amantsantsantsa a Pitori defeated Cape Town City 2-0 last night to end their four match streak without a win.
An early goal from Thapelo Maseko, and an injury time own goal from Darwin Gonzalez saw Supersport United moving back to second spot on the log, 22 points behind log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Iqraam Rainers, also known as The King of Assists, took his tally to six assists this season, as he announced his return to Stellenbosch FC with an assist and a late winner to boost Stellenbosch’s efforts to get away from the relegation zone.
The other Stellies goal was scored by the in- form Titus, who scored his third goal in two matches. Their win over Chippa United moved Stellies to eleventh position on log, not yet safe, but getting there.
Kerr magic takes full effect as Marumo Gallants beat Sekhukhune United.
Marumo Gallants ended their eight match winless run with a 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United.
Goals from Letsie Koapeng, and former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Lucky Mohomi were enough to see Gallants walking away with all the three points in the Limpopo derby.
