Latest on Andile Jali Contract

Andile Jali

Initially the news from an inside source was that Mamelodi Sundowns are not particularly keen in extending Andile Jali’s contract beyond June 2023 when it expires.

But now it seems that may have changed with head coach Rulani Mokwena recognising that squad depth will be key within a hectic schedule and with CAF Champions League in their view, someone of Jali’s experience will be invaluable.

Jali has made seven starts for Masandawana this season, managing 11 appearances, with his last, 90 minutes  being on Tuesday in the 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy.

“We are still in negotiations with Sundowns. AJ is a professional and will continue to work hard and contribute meaningfully to his club, ” Jali’s Agent Mike Makaab told ThisIsFootball.Africa.

“He was outstanding in the last game and played 90 minutes.”

If for some reason the negotiations don’t go according to plan, then Jali would have to look for a new home and consider taking a pay cut too. Clubs like SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs are potential destinations for the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates player. With AmaZulu FC ruling themselves out, in their recent press conference where they announced their new vision for development with star-studded youth coaches like Old John Mabizela and Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
