Lorch possibly out of the Soweto Derby

Thembinkosi Lorch could possibly miss the Soweto Derby

Orlando Pirates attacker Thembinkosi Lorch could possibly be out of the Soweto Derby clash today.

The former Chippa United midfielder, Lorch, returned to the Buccaneers team a fortnight ago against All Stars and scored in his first game since suffering a knee injury in August 2022 against SuperSport United.

He initially started each of Pirates’ first five games of the season under new head coach Jose Riveiro but while away his presence was felt due to their lack of potency in front of goals.

“Goodman Mosele and Thembinkosi Lorch each left the field prematurely over the last two games and might not feature, joining the likes of Nkosinathi Sibisi and Richard Ofori on the sidelines, ” as posted by the official Orlando Pirates website in the build-up to the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs.

A Lorch-less Bucs squad won’t impress the fans. Lorch is the kind of player that usually rises to the occasion, having scored on five occasions in derbies.

Lorch and Mosele will be aiming to make it back in time following a late fitness test, when Pirates take on Chiefs in the DStv Premiership at the FNB Stadium at 15:30 today.
