Abafana Bes’thendeco-coach Mabhudi Khenyeza has insisted that the approach against a wounded Orlando Pirates will be different compared to their last encounter versus SuperSport United.
Golden Arrows are currently above Orlando Pirates on DStv Premiership log standing even though both sides have equal number of points. Both sides have met on 17 occasions with the Buccaneers winning seven and Arrows winning three. Khenyeza stated that their encounter against Pirates on Saturday will require his troops to adjust quicker on how they play.
“Different opposition Pirates, I think it’ll be [a] different approach even from us against Pirates because the teams are not the same. The way Supersport play and the way Pirates play I think [we] will need to adjust quicker based on the approach of our opposition,” he told ThisIsFootball.Africa.
“I think not only trying to stop Pirates, but match the demand of the game based on our tactical approach, when we don’t have the ball, we need to know where we supposed to be especially on the ground and when we win the ball again, the areas where we need to utilise or occupy when we have the ball.
He added: “Because modern football is like that as well you need to apply yourself with the ball [and] you need to apply yourself without the ball not as individual but as a team.”
The last time both sides met the Buccaneers won 2-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium in October 2022. Their encounter is also the last match where Pirates managed to win a league match.
