Rising Mamelodi Sundowns star Cassius Mailula has admitted that he still needs to improve on certain aspects of his game, despite scoring three goals in the Carling Black Label Cup.

The attacker has been hailed as a potential star of Masandawana, with many football supporters already recommending him to be called for the Bafana Bafana squad.

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running in the professional game, scoring nine goals and creating one in just ten appearances in all competitions this season.

Mailula, who produced a man-of-the-match performance as Masandawana thrashed AmaZulu 3–0, before they went on to hammer Pirates 4-0 in the Carling Black Label Final, has admitted he needs to tidy up some aspects of his play.

“I like to thank God and the coaches for giving me this opportunity, it’s difficult to be given an opportunity in this big team,” Mailula told SuperSport TV after the match.

“I think so far I’m coming on very well, but I need to improve on certain aspects of my game.”

Mailula, who scored a total of three goals against AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates respectively on the day, has also revealed what coach Mokwena told him during the semifinal against Usuthu.

“Coach was telling me that I must calm down, that the goal will come. He told me I was too emotional. I think the coach helped me to calm down because I was not making good decisions,” he explained.

“I would  just like to thank the coach for actually helping me to become better every game. But I think I have learnt a lot from this game.”
