Maritzburg United DStv Diski Challenge coach Peter Petersen has revealed that former club coach Ernst Middendorp has moulded his coaching career and others.
Ernst Middendorp parted ways with Maritzburg United in June this year, ending his fourth spell in charge of the Team Of Choice.
Petersen says that the German tactician who has not ruled out a return to coaching, as he is still a free agent, has helped many coaches at the club including the Davids Brothers, Fadlu and Maahier.
Fadlu is now in charge of Maritzburg while Maahier has been roped by coach Pitso Mosimane to be his assistant coach in Saudi Arabia. Petersen himself is a head coach of the Maritzburg’s DDC side.
“I think I have been lucky to have coach Ernst Middendorp, he took us into his wings while he was here,” Petersen told ThisIsFootball.Africa.
“He has just shown us how things are done, and he has always pushed us to grow and not just stay at the same place. We have been lucky to have him around.
“He has been a blessing to us, he knows it, you always learn from him, he’s the one who took us into his shoulders and wings. First it was Fadlu and now it’s me. And he’s always been willing to help, you can always ask him questions, he will be ready for you.
