Pule Mmodi to Chiefs seems to be back on as he is rumoured to have signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs, according to a close source.
Chiefs have actively been preparing for the new season to avoid losing out on their big targets again. We reported that they made a move on deadline day for the Stellenbosch duo, Junior Mendieta and Sibongiseni Mthethwa, as well as Cape Town City’s Mduduzi Mdantsane.
Right now Amakhosi look set to add Bafana Bafana international as their new season signing. They recently committed to a pre-contract with defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, and now a highly placed source has linked them to land the signature of Lamontville Golden Arrows star, Pule Mmodi.
“Kaizer Chiefs… I never supported them growing up, I never supported any team but I’m attracted to Chiefs as it’s a good team for me. I can be one of them [as part of the rebuild.]” Pule Mmodi told IDiski times, in an article published on June the seventh 2022.
Mmodi, who joined Lamontville Golden Arrows from Uthongathi FC at the beginning of the 2020/2021 season, has made a huge impression in the DStv Premiership, and it is no surprise that Chiefs have made him one of their priority signings. He is said to be likely to have already committed to the Soweto Giants.
Before all this Orlando Pirates seemed to have been in pole position to land his signature after they allowed Ntsako Makhubela to leave on loan to Abafana Bes’thende. But now Chiefs have made more inroads and are rumoured to be set to capture the 29 year old attacker, who has managed to 20 appearances, with a good injury record and scoring five goals from wide positions.
“Pule Mmodi is our player, he is a Golden Arrows player and that is the end, we haven’t discussed a new contract with them,” Lamontville Golden Arrows media Officer Mqoh Thusi told ThisisFootball.Africa.
His contract comes to an end, at the end of this current season, so he is well within his right to speak to clubs and see what is out there beyond Golden Arrows.
