Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has given an injury update of his side as the return of the DStv Premiership is slowly approaching.
Masandawana went to the break having suffered some huge injury blows to the likes of crucial members like Peter Shalulile and Abubeker Nasir.
However, Mokwena has confirmed that the Namibian goal poacher and the Ethiopian star are back in training.
Meanwhile, he also revealed that the defenders Abdelmounaim Boutouil and Terrence Mashego have gone under the knife and will be out for quite a while.
“We’ve been a little bit unlucky with injuries but also we have been quite lucky because they came at a period where there were not a lot of official games,” Mokwena told Sundowns media.
“But we’re looking to get Peter Shalulile back to the green grass within the next week or so.
“Haashim Domingo has made very good progress, that is also something that excites us.
“Mkhulise came off in the Carling Black Label and he is also coming a bit closer to returning from injury.
“Bradley Rhalani is also coming closer to also starting conditioning work with the physical trainers and gradually being integrated into team training.
“Erwin Saavedra is making steady progress and is also looking to be integrated into team training.
“Cassius Mailula is also working very hard and getting back to a condition where he is ready for training with the conditioning team.
“Mosa Lebusa is also making very good progress, Abubeker Nasir is back, training with the team but he is still a bit off in relation to his condition.
“But we have only two long-term injury concerns which are both Abdelmounaim Boutouil and Terrence Mashego who have gone under the knife. They have undergone surgery so those would be the two long-term injuries.”
Ahead for Mokwena’s Sundowns lies a big clash against Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership. The match will take place at Loftus Versveld on the 30th of December at 15:30.
