Mokwena: Why Mamelodi Sundowns coach can succeed at Al Ahly – Egypt TV presenter

Mokwena

Egyptian TV presenter for the Match Show at Sada Elbalad TV, Hany Hathout has weighed in on the rumours of Al Ahly being interested in South African coach Rulani Mokwena.

ThisIsFootball.Africa spoke to the Egyptian media personality about his thoughts on Mamelodi Sundowns coach Mokwena’s chances of working in North Africa.

“I think he is doing great at Mamelodi Sundowns,” Hany Hathout told ThisisFootball.Africa

“First of all, beating Al Ahly, and scoring five after scoring two in Egypt is very big, irrespective of Al Ahly’s form. He’s a smart coach, he has read and found Al Ahly’s weaknesses very well.”

Hathout went on to discuss the attributes that make Mokwena special for top North African clubs. This comes after Sundowns’ incredible 5-2 win over Ahly in the Champions League last weekend.

“He also seems to be good at dealing with his players, from a psychological point of view. The team has amazing communication and they enjoy the games, which is always a good point for the coach,” continued Hathout.

Can Mokwena succeed at a club like Al Ahly?

“Yes, he can but at Sundowns he has the quality of players that he needs, and of course, he will need some time to adapt if he does make the move in future. I don’t know much about the North African news linked to Mokwena but the rumours started from South Africa that Al Ahly is allegedly interested in him. Which is not clear at all here in Egypt as of yet. Also regarding Wydad, they just appointed a new coach two weeks ago, [Juan Carlos] Garrido.”

Mamelodi Sundowns take on Al Hilal on Saturday, a club one point above them with Al Ahly hoping that Downs can reign victorious so that they can have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage.
