It’s been a weekend which proved once again just how competitive the Motsepe Foundation Championship is.
The results mean the top of table has gotten an awful lot tighter, as the likes of Uthongathi and JDR have pushed themselves up the ladder.
Friday:
Unbeaten University of Pretoria and Hungry Lions dropped points, with Lions suffering a 2-1 defeat to Magesi, while AmaTuks came back from 3-nil down, to share the spoils at 3-3 with the struggling Lidoda Duvha at Tuks Stadium.
Pretoria Callies continued their dismal run as fourth placed Uthongathi beat them 2-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. This means Callies have only registered one win in nine games thus far, and have collected just five points, as they have drawn two and lost six games so far this season.
Saturday:
Saturday saw only one match, which was the second draw in a row for Platinum City Rovers as they played to a goalless encounter against NB La Masia away from home.
Sunday:
In the final game of the weekend on Sunday, Polokwane City overcame JDR Stars with a 2-1 victory, to pick up their sixth win in nine games this season, which sent them top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.
City lead the table with 19 points in front of second placed Hungry Lions, who have accumulated 18 points. Meanwhile Tuks, who haven’t lost a match so far, sit in third spot with 17 points.
Results:
AmaTuks 3-3 Black Leopards
NB La Masia 0-0 Platinum City Rovers
Pretoria Callies 1-2 Uthongathi
Magesi 2-1 Hungry Lions
Polokwane City 2-1 JDR
