Venda Football Academy have completed the signing of Nigerian international forward Babatunde Adepoju from Malawian side Nyasa Big Bullets.
The striker had been heavily linked with VFA for some time, but the Thohoyandou outfit have finally got their man after the deal was completed. Yesterday.
The 27-year-old has signed a three and a half year contract with the Limpopo based outfit to end his one and a half year spell with the Peoples Team. The centre forward who joined TNM Super League champions in the middle of the 2021 season, made 46 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing ten assists for Bullets.
In the 2022 campaign that ended in December, the forward scored 18 TN Super League goals to win the Golden Boot award and inspired the Malawi champions to a fourth straight league title. During his stay at Bullets, Babatunde won one Charity Shield, two TNM Super League titles, one Airtel Top 8 Cup and the FDH Bank Cup.
VFA are placed 13 on the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with 18 points after 17 games. They hope the experience of Babatunde will help them survive relegation. The lanky striker joins Maboke Matlakala, Athini Jodwana, Bhongolwethu Siyasi and Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali among the new players teaming up with VFA.
Babatunde will have a chance to showcase the South African football lovers what he is capable of when VFA entertain Baroka on Saturday in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash at Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo kick-off is at 15:30.
