Norodien weighs in on World Cup & Rwandan Life

Riyaad Norodien wants Messi to the lift the Cup

Former Cape Town Spurs winger, Riyaad Norodien weighs in on some of his FIFA World Cup predictions, as well as more on life in Rwanda.

Norodien believes that there are two South American teams that are in pole position to win the world cup, and coincidently each of their star players play for the same club in France, namely PSG.

“You see, the statistics with regards to who won the Euro, or who was the highest goal scorer of the Euro’s, and the various teams that won the World Cup, all these pre-World Cup facts. There are so many facts available to tell you who may win the cup,” Riyaad Norodien told ThisIsFootball.Africa.

“One of my favourite players is Lionel Mess,i and I would like him to win the FIFA World Cup with Argentina. Second one would be Neymar, so then you have Brazil who are in with a chance. It’s gonna be a beautiful World Cup. I guess because I’m not in my own country, I will have to watch it on my phone. These two players will do anything to win the World Cup for their nation, sometimes it feels like it means a bit more to them than anything else. So I think the winner will come from either Argentina or Brazil.”

Norodien now plays football outside the country, in Rwanda at Kiyovu Sports FC, where is looking to reignite that spark he had at Ajax Cape Town, where he was seen as one of the PSL’s brightest stars. The winger was tipped to one day play for the national team, but right now he feels that he is ready to return to the PSL, as time away has given him a greater appreciation of our league, and of the resources of our country.

“In Rwanda we don’t have what South Africa has in terms of what our broadcasters can give us. Here we have Canal+ which is not the same, because they only put out what they can put out I guess. Sometimes it’s complicated because you can’t always keep up to date. So anyway, I am still looking forward to the World Cup and hopefully Messi can lift it and retire being really honestly the GOAT, the Greatest of all Time, then definitely he’ll go on to win another Ballon D’Or. “
