Parker’s Amakhosi Face Off

Kaizer Chiefs will welcome TS Galaxy to the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening at 19:30, with a host of mid-week games taking place in the DStv Premiership. The highlight of this clash will be Galants veteran star Bernard Parker’s face off against his former team the Amakhosi.

The Rockets currently find themselves in 11th position, having had a great start to the season initially, beating a team like Mamelodi Sundowns, and sending the team into dreamland. However, they are winless in the last five, picking up two points overall, but have only been beaten once by the Glamour Boys in their entire existence.

“The feeling hasn’t sunk in yet, I’m sure it will sink in when I put foot at FNB Stadium,” Bernard Parker told TS Galaxy’s media team after being asked his thoughts on playing his former club, Kaizer Chiefs.

“I don’t know how to describe this feeling, I don’t know how I’ll be on the day. I’m looking forward to it, and I hope on that day it will be a warm feeling.”

“It’s a good feeling that I’m feeling already, to play against my ex team it will be more of a feeling that will trigger emotions. I hope that I will receive a warm reception, a welcome back, and a positive reception. Because of what I have done there, I’ve done a lot in the last 11 years. So I’m anticipating a welcoming feeling.”

Kaizer Chiefs on the other hand, are sitting comfortably in fourth position, two points behind the leaders KaboYellow. A win for them could elevate them to the summit of the league, if other results go their way. But what we also know, is that a team of this size is always one defeat away from a complete meltdown. Adding to the plot is the unavailability of their top scorer Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who according to media reports is ruled out of action for about four weeks.

“Let’s be honest, there are no small teams, every team is trying to be up there, and every team is trying to win games now,” Njabulo Blom told Kaizer Chiefs media, when questioned about their upcoming fixture against a challenging TS Galaxy side.

“I don’t think there is a small team in the DStv Premiership, we’ll go out there and work hard, we’ll go out there and try to get maximum points. They gave us problems in the past, but it is something we are looking to stop.”
