Kaizer Chiefs shot stopper Brandon Petersen has made a brave suggestion on his future with Kaizer Chiefs, claiming that he’d like to stay at Naturena until he is 45 years of age.
Petersen has completed 10 appearances for the Glamour Boys this campaign and has kept seven clean sheets so far. The 28-year-old kept three consecutive clean sheets during Chiefs recent run of three games without a losing, before the untimely defeat on Sundays by a 3-2 scoreline to Lamontville Golden Arrows.
Beeza’ as he is known, is currently on a deal with Amakhosi that is set to run out at the end of the 2023/2024 season, but the goalkeeper has disclosed that he believes that as a goalkeeper he wants to stay with Chiefs for as long as he possibly can. Which is not unheard of, if he can continue to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
“I want to play until I’m 45-years-old, if they let me stay here [Chiefs},” Petersen told the media.
“Chiefs is one of the biggest clubs in Africa. Who wouldn’t want to be here. I always said that from here, I want to go to Europe, I want to go overseas if I get the opportunity and as long as they want me here, I’ll stay here.
“I don’t have a problem with it, I like it here, they treat you well here. The facilities are world class and it’s everything a professional player wants. As long as they want me here I will stay here.”
Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane stood behind his goalkeeper after a shock defeat to Arrows as Kaizer Chiefs kept three clean sheets in their previous three matches ahead of Saturday’s vital Soweto Derby against rivals Orlando Pirates. They will be hoping to get back Edmilson Dove too, as the centre back missed this last game and played a crucial role in their three previous consecutive clean sheets.
