DStv Premiership giants Orlando Pirates are set to sign a striker, Souaibou Marou from Cameroonian club Coton Sport, according to Kick442.

The Cameroonian publication reports that Coton Sport and the Buccaneers have reached an agreement in principle for Marou’s move to South Africa in January.

The report said that the transfer of the 22-year-old goal-poacher, would cost Pirates around R3,45 million. Kick442 first reported that the striker will sign for Pirates and now the player has taken it to social media to confirm the deal.

“Greetings fatherland, I will sign for Orlando Pirates in the month of January and continue my journey in the South African first division,” Marou said as quoted by Kick442.

“It’s a new adventure for us, and I thank you all for the love and support.”

Over the course of the past two seasons in the Cameroon top league, Marou scored a total of 30 goals in 63 matches in all competitions for Coton.

He was named the 2022 winner of the Cameroon footballer of the year, and was  also part of his national team squad in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Marou, one of the most prolific scorers of the past seasons in Cameroon, would greatly boost the Buccaneers chances of rebuilding a competitive team after going for years not winning the league title.
