Al-Ahli Saudi coach, Pitso Mosimane has refused to be drawn on the possibility of signing Thembinkosi Lorch, even though the player has been heavily linked to a move away from Pirates.
Claims of Lorch move to Saudi Arabia to join Mosimane or an across town move to Mamelodi Sundowns persist and are unlikely to go away.
Lorch’s last match at Pirates was against SuperSport United in August 2022. Overall, this season, the fan favourite has only played five matches, without scoring any goals or providing any assists.
Many believe that the injury talk is not true and that Lorch could be on his way from Pirates soon. The media also heated the story up by linking Lorch to Pitso’s club. However, the former Egypt’s Al Ahly coach took to Twitter on Sunday to clear up the rumours.
“If Al Ahli wants Thembinkosi Lorch, me and Chairman Khoza would be the first people to know,” Mosimane Tweeted.
“And nobody will know until Orlando Pirates announce the deal been done. If the news is true, then I am not aware of that.” Mosimane’s Al Ahli sits sixth on the table of the first division of Saudi Arabian football, with 24 points, six points behind the log leaders, Al-Faisaly FC, but they have two games on hands.
