Pitso Mosimane’s stock continued to rise as his Al Ahli Saudi side kept their unbeaten run, after a professional 2-0 win against Al Qaisumah FC on Saturday.
Al Ahli has managed to secure their fourth successive win, thanks to goals by Ryad Boudebouz and Hicham Faik. This victory opens up a three-point buffer at the top of the Saudi First Division table.
To round it off, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has won eight games and fought for five draws since joining Al Ahli, while he remains unbeaten in Saudi Arabia thus far.
Mosimane is now in pole position to get that much anticipated promotion to the topflight in Saudi Arabian football.
Al-Ahli Saudi’s hierarchy and supporters are gaining more faith in Mosimane with each game that passes by. It has become clear to the fans that the club made the right choice in hiring the South African. The club took top spot in the Saudi Arabian first division four months after the Mosimane arrived and are flying high because of his exploits.
Al-Ahli, is a top three club in the country who suffered a shock relegation in 2021-22. With three league titles to the good, in September the team were languishing in seventh place after five matches. Mosimane left Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he won five trophies including back-to-back Caf Champions League titles. But it seems he has found a new home, putting the world on an alert about his ability as a coach that is able to flourish wherever he goes.
His ability to change the mentality of players, and then get them to improve and believe in his philosophy is a quality that has proven to be priceless. The way he can assess a squad, and then play the football that suits the make-up of his team is a critical attribute. Then of course the tireless work that he puts in, day after day and night after night.
