Former Spurs and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has rejected an offer from French club OGC Nice in recent days.
Pochettino has been without a job since leaving PSG at the end of the 2021/2022 season, a campaign that saw him lift the first league title of his managerial career.
Pochettino is without doubt one of the best managers currently available, but has reportedly turned down the OGC Nice advances in the hopes of landing a bigger job in the near future, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
“Despite club statement, many sources guarantee that Mauricio Pochettino was approached by OGC Nice in the last few days and he decided to turn down the proposal. #OGCNice,” wrote Romano on Twitter.
“Pochettino has no intention to accept and he’s waiting for different opportunities in the future.”
OGC Nice are currently undergoing a tough start to the new campaign, sitting 13th in Ligue 1. Les Aiglons finished a respectable 5th place last season under the stewardship of current PSG manager Christophe Galtier. They were unlucky not to be in this campaign’s UEFA Champions League, after finishing 5th only on goal difference.
Unfortunately for Nice, they had to settle for a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League, where they currently sit 3rd in Group D.
Regardless of how his reign at PSG came to an end, Pochettino is still a coach that is highly thought of in the football world. The Argentinian is bound to receive better offers than one to replace the man (Galtier) who replaced him at PSG.
