Thembinkosi Lorch’s former coach, Morena Ramoreboli has opened up about where the Orlando Pirates star needs to be playing next season. Ramoreboli and Lorch go back a long way having worked together at Maluti FET in the ABC Motsepe League previously. Ramoreboli is of the firm belief that Lorch must go where he is appreciated.
Lorch has been an absentee at Orlando Pirates team the past four months now. The attacking midfielders last appearance for the Sea Robbers was when they played a goalless draw against SuperSport United in August 2022.
The 2018/19 Player of the Season was not part of the playing squad during the MTN8 final against AmaZulu FC in Durban. His former coach Morena Ramoreboli says Lorch should be where he is appreciated and the player is mature enough to make his own decisions.
“If I were to advise him, I would say to him that he needs to be where he is appreciated. If Pirates still appreciate Thembinkosi Lorch and if they still support him throughout everything and if they still support him even though he is injured, if that the current environment then Lorch also needs to repay Orlando Pirates,” Ramoreboli tells ThisIsFootball.Africa.
“But I don’t know if Sundowns is coming in for him we don’t know if they are talking to him. We also don’t know he feels that he can go to Sundowns and contribute. I think at the moment he is mature enough to make his own decisions; he is matured enough to know which team will suit his ability,” he added.
“He has worked with coach Rulani Mokwena, he understands how coach Rulani works, so if he decides to go to play for Sundowns it’ll be because maybe he can add value at Sundowns. But one thing for sure he is matured enough to make his own decisions and I can only support the decision that he has made because I know that he loves the game and he very passionate about the game,” he concluded.
It remains to been seen whether the Bloemfontein-born will make his return to the squad when Orlando Pirates visits Mamelodi Sundowns later this month. For now, no update has been made by the club about his return or whereabouts.
