Mamelodi Sundowns displayed a brilliant performance, as they walked away with a 4-0 victory against Orlando Pirates at the FNB stadium on Saturday, 12 November 2022. The Dstv Premiership champions showed dominance, as they forced the Soweto giants to create mistakes which they capitalised on.

In his post-match interview, coach Mokwena stated that it is in his nature to give opportunities to young players.

“My background comes from being a youth coach, I was given an opportunity because someone believed in me while I was still a youth coach and working with youngsters, it is therefore, my responsibility to continue to try and give opportunities to youngsters. I am not afraid to do it because people were not afraid to do it for me, at times this is our responsibility because part of what we are doing now is about immediate results. We must play for results and play to win and also, we have to look out for the future of this football club,” he said in his post-match interview.

Since coach Rhulani Mokwena has taken charge of the hot seat, Mamelodi Sundowns have been rejuvenated. He was assigned to be the new head coach on 25 October 2022 and he has set an outstanding record of 4 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws.

However, with Rhulani Mokwena in the hot seat, there seems to be a promise of not being afraid of giving deserving youth a greater chance than before. That’s something that could be very exciting to watch.
