As previously reported, Rivaldo Coetzee could possibly leave on loan with the likes of Maritzburg United, Marumo Gallants, Cape Town City and Swallows possible destinations for the former Bafana Bafana international.
The versatile player who can play at centre back and in midfield, may join any of the above on a loan deal before the deadline today. But if he fights for a permanent exit and Downs agree, which is highly unlikely, then he will be available even to clubs like Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Chiefs would see Coetzee as the ideal replacement for Njabulo Blom who has left for MLS side St Louis City SC
While Coetzee has seen no action, and seems to be behind the likes of Andile Jali, Sipho Mbule, Mothobi Mvala, Teboho Mokoena and even Bongani Zungu. His contract however only expires in June 2026, so any club interested will need to buy him out of his contract, unless a mutual termination is agreed upon or if he puts through a transfer request like his teammate Lesedi Kapinga has done on deadline day.
What stands against Coetzee is his injury record at the club, as talented as he may be, he arrived injured and has continued to be plagued by injuries, which may lead to his exit despite being a standout performer when fit.
Rivaldo once had a move to Glasgow Celtic on the cards but failed his medical due to broken bones on his right foot. An event that nearly ended his career at the age of 21. However Mamelodi Sundowns signed him anyway which gave him hope to play on.
Coetzee is certainly one to watch on deadline day.
