“I still remain because people are explaining I’ll run away from Royal AM. I put a lot of effort into that team. I’m going to relax like I’ve said, take a special leave,” says Sinky Mnisi in August 2022 denying he had been suspended by Royal AM for alleged internal affairs.
After an impressive 2021/22 season for Royal AM questions were raised around the club after big changes were made in the technical team and players leaving the club. Among those changes were the departure of Malawian-born John Maduka who left to coach of Maritzburg United while the clubs top goal scorer Victor Letsoalo joined Sekhukhune United.
Furthermore, Mnisi replaced Maduka with Khabo Zondo who was a co-coach with Dan Malesela who eventually left the club after a few months. However, Maduka successor has been struggling to get results since he joined the club and Royal AM are currently on bottom half of DStv Premiership table.
On Wednesday morning, Thwihli Thwahla CEO Sinky Mnisi has confirmed that he is no longer working for the KwaZulu Natal based team Royal AM after he returned from his special leave he took in December 2022.
“It is my pleasure to announce to the world of sports in general and the football village in particular, my exit from Royal AM with immediate effect after my return from special leave on the 28 December 2022,” the football administrator said in a brief statement.
Mnisi has thanked Royal AM for what he has achieved with the club during his short stint.
“I am grateful to God for the excellent success I achieved with Royal AM in my short stint at the club,” he ended.
